The Panoptykon Foundation was established in 2009 as a grassroots initiative by a group of young people who refused to treat new technologies as a cure-all.

We operate on several fronts simultaneously. We fight for legal changes, encourage better practices in institutions and companies, and influence the public debate.

Fast and easy wins are hard to come by in this line of work. Many cases take years to resolve, and many are still awaiting a conclusion. Still, we have plenty of accomplishments to be proud of.

For 15 years, we have been keeping a watchful eye on the government and corporations. We expose violations. We fight for legislation to protect freedom and privacy. We help people live consciously in the digital world.
